I’ve hired a new artist for MINORITY OF ONE and the kindle version just went live (paperback to follow suit soon)… here’s a sample of the updated artwork.
The artwork in the updated version is by Alina Zukurova and I quite like it, very much.
This isn’t to slur the previous artist, who I also liked a lot… but ultimately, after sitting with it for some time, it was thought that the previous art work had too much of a comic book tone, a lighter touch than the material needed (and more in tune with SOME ANIMALS)… so we start again.
The vibe we’re going for is more SIN CITY than what the previous art suggested (which felt very cartoon-ish, not a bad thing at all, but not in alignment with the story) and so it had to be done.
It’s hard, admitting one made a mistake (this is all on me, I made all the creative decisions) but this is how this life works. I mean, the original ending of AMERICAN BEAUTY was the kids being arrested for the murder of Kevin Spacey, and everyone was like… NOOOOOO! even though they loved it in the script and filming… but in the screening room, it no longer worked.
And the most famous example of all is the film WORLD WAR Z, in which they threw out the second half of the movie and completely re-imagined and reshot it.
To great success. This is the process. This is the way.
I’ll be redoing the art for FREEDOM RUN as well, with the same style.
Anyone who purchased a copy of the book in the previous format, I’d be happy to send you an updated version gratis, just let me know. I’ve opened comments up on this so you can give me a head’s up.
In the meantime, thank you all for your attention and support, and if you have time, please leave reviews on Amazon, they always help.
And subscribe for more updates.
The next novel in the series, MAN IN A BOX, is on its way to you soon.
Take care and thank you all!
